There are four council by-elections on Thursday 6 August. Local Liberal Democrats have selected four excellent candidates hoping to represent their constituents on Glasgow City Council.
(from left to right)
- Gary McLelland is fighting Anderston/City (Ward 10). Gary works for a human rights charity and is campaigning for better governance and more democratic decisions – no more ill-considered "prestige" projects that the public don't want.
- Chris Young is contesting Calton (Ward 9). A former lawyer and entertainer, now studying for a degree in chemistry, Chris is particularly interested in recycling and waste management and how such facilities can serve both new and old housing stock.
- Isabel Nelson is the candidate for Craigton (Ward 4). Isabel is keen to get things done, making a practical difference in people's lives. She has particular experience getting things moving in the fields of housing and energy efficiency, having previously managed Heatwise Glasgow.
- Will Millinship hopes to represent Langside (Ward 7). A keen pedestrian and user of public transport, Will has been looking into local bus services, congestion and traffic dangers, as well as a whole range of "pavement politics" issues.
All four candidates want to hear your views. People living in any ward can fill in the Residents' Survey online.
