Secondary School zoning
The contentious issue of secondary school zoning for pupils attending Carmunnock Primary is to be consulted on by the Council in the Autumn.
At present children are zoned for Castlemilk High School but not one child has gone to Castlemilk High in recent years. This is having an effect on the population of the village and parents would like this issue resolved once and for all.
The position of Carmunnock is anomalous, as a village within Glasgow, bordering both East Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire.
Local Liberal Democrat Councillor Margot Clark said: “The consultation is planned to assess the views of local parents. I would urge everyone to take part.
Hopefully a satisfactory solution can be found. It would, however, be quite wrong if too rigid a view of local Council boundaries was taken.”
