Call for better disabled facilities at Castlemilk Swimming Pool

Bailie Margot Clark has been heavily involved in a campaign to secure better facilities for disabled people at Castlemilk Swimming Pool.

Margot said: “Castlemilk Swimming Pool is a great local resource and it’s a shame that the pool isn’t accessible to the whole community. When the pool was refurbished a number of significant improvements were made, which do benefit a number of disabled people but we urgently need a changing plinth to allow disabled swimmers to get changed. The pool has a disabled changing room and changing bench but this is not adequate to allow some disabled people to get changed safely.”

“We need to raise around £12,000 for the alterations and I am positive that we can achieve this. The staff at Castlemilk Swimming Pool are very supportive of our aim as are Enable Scotland who identified the problem and are leading the campaign.”
