Castlemilk Stress Clinic loses funding
Local residents are up in arms over the loss of the highly-regarded Castlemilk Stress Centre, following on funding cuts from the Labour-led CHCP (a partnership between the Council and the Health Board). The Stress Centre has been in existence for over 16 years and helped hundreds of people a year suffering from depression or anxiety problems.
Local Liberal Democrat Councillor Margot Clark and Glasgow Liberal Democrat MSP Robert Brown backed the campaign against the funding cut. They also took up the future of the Centre in the council and with Scottish Ministers.
Robert Brown MSP said: "The Castlemilk Stress Centre was a superb facility for the south side. It helped and was valued by an impressive number of people. The individual stories told at the public meeting were testimony to the value of the centre. The funding cut seemed to me really short-sighted."
Cllr Margot Clark added: "It is hugely disappointing to see the loss of the Castlemilk Stress Centre ddespite a well organised campaign by the Action Group. It will leave a major gap for many people."
