Manse Brae Housing Development

Local residents are up in arms about the ongoing saga of the proposed housing development between Manse Brae and Old Castle Road. The most recent planning application for 46 flats was rejected by the Council's Planning Committee following 133 objections (including all the local councillors). However the developer, Southside Housing Association, have appealed the refusal to Scottish Ministers.

Local Linn Councillor Margot Clark said: "Many local people have complained about the proposed development where traffic is already heavily congested. The development is not in character with the surrounding are and is substantial over-development."

Glasgow Liberal Democrat MSP Robert Brown was also one of the objectors.

Robert Brown MSP said: "This is a highly unsuitable development for the area. You just need to see the level of existing traffic congestion on Friday afternoons for example to see the problem if this number of extra flats were approved."
