Positive marks for Drumchapel Community Learning Groups

Written by Paul McGarry. Posted in Paul McGarry

Education Scotland have published the report of their inspection of the learning community in Drumchapel. Those inspected received Good marks with several community organisations being credited for contributing to the positive report.

As part of the report local community groups and organisations were inspected and the report is designed to let those who use services and the local community know whether learning communities provide appropriate learning opportunities and help learners in their development.

The report praised "well-managed community sports groups enabling
participants and volunteers to develop and achieve." and "High quality services across play, sports, culture and learning activity."

Council Candidate Paul McGarry Commenting on the report said "This is a good result for community groups in Drumchapel and shows the bar is set very high. We have for a long time known of the success of groups such as Drumchapel Table Tennis, G15 Youth Project, the Children’s Rights Project and Ignite Theatre. So to see them named for their positive contribution is a fantastic nod to their hard work.

"There are so many fantastic groups in the community, though the challenge remains to protect these groups and ensure they are receiving adequate resources to maintain these high standards and indeed further the work they do. This is one of the challenges I hope to take up in the City Council come May.
