SOUTHERN GENERAL HOSPITAL MUST BE DELIVERED ON TIME - BROWN

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 23rd Apr 2008

Southern General

Commenting on the announcement of the Southern General Hospital project, Liberal Democrat MSP for Glasgow Robert Brown said:

"I am pleased that the future of the Southern General Hospital project has at last been confirmed. I have supported a new southside Glasgow hospital throughout my time in the Scottish Parliament.

"I am, however, concerned that the Government statement does not give any timetable for completion of the construction works. I hope this does not imply any further delay. The Minister must tell us urgently when building will start on this hospital and when it will be ready to admit patients.

"This hospital is crucial for Glasgow. I will be keeping a close eye on progress to ensure that it is delivered on time and within the budget."

Ends.
