Narrow nationalists use deaths of British servicemen to further political ends
Commenting as mock-ups of Better Together campaign posters which use the deaths of British servicemen in an attempt to further political ends circulate the internet, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie said:
“Using the death British servicemen, who aren’t able to answer for themselves, to further political ends, is a deplorable act.
“These narrow nationalists are trying to portray the English as warmongers who don’t care about lives lost in battle. These brave servicemen died for their country, not for narrow nationalists trying to serve their political end.
“They were not dragooned into serving their country. The armed forces defend the United Kingdom with pride and to belittle the role that they play in defending our country in some warped attempt to score political points is an action that should be denounced on all sides of the debate.”
