Michael Shields for Langside

Born and raised in the Southside of Glasgow , I am currently a student at South Lanarkshire College studying Social Sciencesand due to go to university in September to study politics. I have been a member of the Liberal Democrats since 2018 and am passionate about local community issues and youth opportunities. I have been campaigning for the party on these matters and my top priorities for Langside are :

  1. Repair of the potholed roads in the area which are a danger to people and vehicles.
  2. Creation of and access to green spaces for all where people can walk,  play and enjoy a clean environment.
  3. Better lighting at night in Queen’s Park so that park users can feel safer and secure when using the park at all times.
  4. To tackle the proliferation of flytipping since Glasgow City Council cut refuse collections.
As a young candidate I am keen to make Glasgow and Langside cleaner, safer and brighter places for current and future generations . I believe it is important that young people take the opportunity to contribute to a better area environment by standing in local elections. I will always take the time to listen to people’s issues on community matters.
