The Glasgow Liberal Democrats have today announced their full list of candidates standing in May’s election across the city, as party leader Alex Cole-Hamilton said his party is ready to deliver change with fairness at its heart for people in every corner of Scotland.

The Lib Dems are hoping to return a regional MSP for the first time since Robert Brown in 2011, building on successes at the 2024 UK General election and growing poll ratings compared to the last Scottish Parliament elections in 2021.

Daniel Khan-O'Malley is their top candidate for Glasgow. He is a human rights activist and an advocate for better treatment for people with diabetes. He campaigned successfully for funding while working at Diabetes Scotland.

Full list of the parties candidates on the Glasgow regional list:

  1. Daniel Khan-O'Malley

  2. Paul Kennedy

  3. James Speirs

  4. Rachel Park

  5. Peter McLaughlin

  6. Amy Carman

  7. Verity Woolley

The party are standing in constituencies across the city:

  • James Speirs, standing in Glasgow Anniesland

  • Amy Carman, standing in Glasgow Baillieston and Shettleston

  • Peter McLaughlin, standing in Glasgow Cathcart and Pollock

  • Paul Kennedy, standing in Glasgow Central

  • Nicholas Moohan, standing in Glasgow Easterhouse and Springburn

  • Daniel Khan-O'Malley, standing in Glasgow Kelvin and Maryhill

  • Rachel Park, standing in Glasgow Southside

The party is encouraging voters in every corner of Glasgow to use their second, peach-coloured, regional ballot paper to elect a Scottish Liberal Democrat MSP for the city to parliament.

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:

“Scotland has so much going for it, but right now, people are tired and frustrated.

“They’re staring down the barrel of soaring bills, huge waits for GPs and dentists, the national embarrassment of the ferries fiasco and an education system that just isn’t what it used to be.

“Scottish Liberal Democrats believe that Scotland deserves better than this.

“That’s why we’ve got a realistic plan to help you with the cost of living, to get you the healthcare you need when you need it, to fix our roads and ferries and get Scottish education back to its best.

“Liberal Democrats are winning again, with more councillors, a record number of MPs and more to come.

“At this election, you have two votes. In many constituencies we are on the verge of winning against the SNP but wherever you are, every vote for the Scottish Liberal Democrats on the second peach ballot paper will deliver change with fairness at its heart.”
